At the start of the New Year, or when we do something for the first time, or even the first time after a long time of not doing it, we say the Shehecheyanu, a prayer to thank God for giving us life, for sustaining us, and for bringing us to this day. This day being the day of something new, or a day when we do something that we have not done for so long that it feels new. It’s good to be back in the café in the Park, writing.
